One of the biggest things I’m sick of MY generation of filmmakers is when they try to be cocky and show off their equipment. It gets so annoying when someone tries to show off a brand new camera or when they whine on how they don’t have the equipment they need for their film. I mean it’s not completely necessary. Film is not based on ONE thing. It’s a combination of many different great things. It’s on how you decide to shoot the film, the directing, the acting, the storytelling, sound, pacing, lighting, and so much freaking more. Like I only have a Nikon J1, 2 canteen lights, tripod, and extension cords. I try to do with the best that I can with what I have. I become creative and that’s what filmmaking is. It is to be creative with what you have, or the budget that you have, and do the best. I find regular household lights. I will use them, cause if it allows me to be creative and do what I need, I’ll use it. I get sick and tired of people going up to me saying, “Oh, but you have a good editing software and lights.” I only have these stuff, because once I know I’ve exhaust all possibility of what I have, I upgrade. I guess that’s my rant. Filmmaking is not based on one thing like a camera, or the editing software. It depends on how you use the camera, or how you edit. Yeah.
